This is the challenge behind the partnership deal between Wega Macchine per Caffè and Domus Academy, the prestigious institute founded in Milan in 1982 that is part of the Laureate International Universities network. With the goal of exploring a new dimension for professional espresso coffee machines, Wega decided to sponsor the 2013 Domus Academy Master in Design, supporting a team of students from emerging markets like China, India, South Korea, Taiwan and Portugal.

Designed around the definition of an international context applied to new product images, the Wega-sponsored Dress me up project hosted Master students at their headquarters in Susegana, where they received constant, specific training to help them understand and navigate market dynamics and new project standards.

As the Dress me up concept suggests, the challenge consisted in coming up with a new aesthetic for the product while respecting the technological aspect: that is, outline a possible evolution towards new scenarios, where design can triumph over limitations in production and technology to become an essential competitive aspect and a catalyst for new product perception.

The Master was launched with an inauguration in July 2013, and this compelling initiative came to fruition last Tuesday, November 26th, with the presentation of final theses at the Domus Academy in Milano. Federico Gallia, Sole Director of the Ryoma Group and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wega, Paolo Nadalet, Managing Director for Wega, Philippe Casens, Course leader for the Domus Academy Master in Design, Odoardo Fioravanti, designer and Project leader for the theses, and designer Lorenzo Bustillos presided over the event.

The final projects developed by the 2013 Master in Design students will be the focus of an exhibit called Open Doors, scheduled on Tuesday, December 10th, (6:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, December 11th (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) at the Domus Academy in via Darwin 20 (free admission).

The main catalyst at the exposition space (stand E60 – pav. 11, 245 m²) will be the highest expression of energy savings and technology from the Wega Company, the electronic Wegaconcept, a symbol of Wega’s dedication to energy savings from their green line. The machine is distinguished by reduced energy use because it employs separate boilers for each individual brewing group along with a system that memorizes workloads and can guarantee energy savings of up to 47.6%.

During the Host expo, Wega will unveil a sneak peak of its new generation Wegaconcept, a synthesis of design and the most advanced control solutions.  The MyConcept will be equipped with a capacitive touch screen feature that will allow for the separate management of the brew spouts and remote control of the machine’s functions. Moreover, with an integrated proximity control feature, the MyConcept will be able to interact with mobile devices, supporting innovative applications and geographical locating instruments.

The hyper-technological evolution of the Wegaconcept will not be the only debut at Host: at the Wega stand there will be a special spotlight on the brand new BeConcept, supplied with a single button to show off the skills of true professionals. At the specifically dedicated working station, a couple of BeConcept machines will be the central focus of a test area reserved only for the most expert baristas. It is guaranteed to be quite the show, with a special holographic set up designed for this special edition: the enhanced exhibit space, the three-dimensional aspect and the lighting effects are sure to provide the maximum impact for this model that has personality to spare.

Two restyles will also be unveiled by Wega for the occasion of Host. Scheduled for Sunday, February 10th, in the community of Piani di Pezzè in Alleghe, in the  Civetta ski resort, the most spectacular mid-season party will reaffirm the brand’s emphasis on sports and winter events, further strengthening its presence in the Dolomites, where Wega already enjoys significant visibility both in high altitude lodges as well as in selected locations inside the most prestigious ski resorts.The day will be spent in the pursuit of fun, with the BigAirBag, a huge mattress that will catch your fall after you try the thrill of a big air jump on skis or a snowboard.

For Kamikazen Mon Amour, anyone who wants to can try their trampoline skills in costume to give Carnival a shot of adrenaline and an extra thrill.The show will start at 10:00 a.m. with free jump events, followed by a pro team freestyle contest in two rounds featuring special guest starring athletes from Nordica Freeskiers. Starting at 2:00 p.m. the competition will be open to everyone, and between stunts you can refuel at a food stand offering sushi, sake and sashimi.

From 4:00 p.m. on  the Kamikazen Mon Amour event will entertain the crowd with  a live version of rockabilly swing by Rock’n Roll Kamikazes followed by music by DJ Bubble.
